Caribbean Days 4 to 6: Bahamas to Curaçao

I’ve visited two new island nations in the last two days.

After leaving the Bahamas, we sailed for most of two days to get to the coast just north of South America. This was the view from my deck for most of these two days:

Given the political instability in Venezuela these days, I’m neither surprised nor disappointed that our itinerary did not include a stop there.

We did stop in Aruba and Curaçao, two island nations just off the coast of Venezuela.

Of the two, I much preferred Curaçao: it was much more developed and refined. I wish that I had been able to rent a car from Willemstad, but alas, they were all sold out. I think I would have enjoyed exploring the island on my own.

Here are some photos from both islands:

People in Aruba love to set off elaborate fireworks displays, especially as the holidays approach. (This was two days before New Years’.) I love how people are so nonchalant about all the noise and commotion and eventually people just start driving through it. No matter how loud you have your speakers or headphones set, it is not even close to how loud it was in person. Oranjestad, Aruba, 2017
